A Letter to the Sea
Chapter 4 · 1,284 words

The harbour was always loudest just before the rain, when even the gulls fell quiet and the boats began to hum against their ropes. She used to say the sea spoke in chapters — that you only had to listen with the right kind of patience.

I learned to listen the year my father stopped speaking

A closer look

Writers, this is the tool you wished for.

The editor

Type. Format. Forget the toolbar.

A blank page that gets out of your way. Markdown shortcuts and a slash menu mean you almost never reach for the mouse — but everything is one keystroke away when you do.

  • Slash commands for headings, quotes, embeds, images, audio
  • Floating format bar that appears only when you select text
  • Rich Markdown shortcuts (## Heading, > Quote, **bold**)
  • Drafts auto-save every keystroke and merge across devices
  • Word count goals, focus mode, sepia / dark / paper themes

The Last Lighthouse
Chapter Two · 1,820 words · 7 min read

By morning, the fog had thickened into something almost architectural — walls and corridors of grey that you had to push through with your shoulder.

"Don't trust the fog," she'd said. "It listens."

— and yet I went, the way you always go toward the place you were told never to go.

The lighthouse was where she said it would be|

A few letters we've kept on the wall.

Real notes from real authors, journalists, students, and weekend storytellers using InkSpaceX every day.

I've tried every writing app on the market. InkSpaceX is the first one that disappears when I need it to and shows up when I need a hand. I finished the first draft of my novel in 11 weeks.

The reader is the best long-form reading experience on the web. I switched my whole serial newsletter over and my readers haven't stopped thanking me.

I run a writing workshop for teens. The fact that there's no algorithmic feed, no ads, no DMs from strangers — that alone made this an instant adoption.

Other apps want me to "engage". InkSpaceX wants me to write. That's the entire difference.

Frequently asked

Questions & honest answers.

Is InkSpaceX really free?
Yes — the entire writing and reading experience is free, forever, with no ads. Pro is an optional upgrade for writers who want extras like an AI co-writer, audio chapters, and custom domains. We're funded by Pro subscribers, not by selling your data.
Where do my drafts and stories live?
Your drafts sync between devices via our servers (encrypted in transit and at rest), and we keep an offline copy on every device you sign in to. You can export everything as Markdown or PDF at any time, or delete your account in two clicks.
Do you train AI on my writing?
Never. Your drafts and published work are not used to train any AI model — ours, or anyone else's. The Pro AI co-writer runs against isolated providers under strict no-retention contracts.
Which devices does InkSpaceX work on?
Web (any modern browser), Android, macOS, and Windows — with full offline support on each. Same drafts, same bookmarks, same highlights, in perfect sync.
Can I read or write offline?
Yes. Every device keeps a local copy of the stories you've opened and the drafts you're working on. Edits sync automatically the next time you connect, with conflict-free merges across devices.
What about ads, tracking, or feed algorithms?
None of those things exist on InkSpaceX. There is no ad network, no third-party analytics, and no algorithmic feed. You see what you choose to follow, ordered by time. That's it.
